Guide for attendees

Learn, ask, and leave with a plan

Our community events bring local experts and leaders to you, for free and in your language. Come for one session or stay for the day.

What it means to attend

You register once, choose the sessions that matter to you, and join from your phone, tablet or computer. You can listen quietly or ask your own questions. Either way, you are part of a community that helps each other.

  • Free, always
  • Choose only the sessions you want
  • Join from home on any device
  • Every age is welcome

Why come

Learn from people who know

Local experts and community leaders explain real topics: money, health, family, care and careers.

Ask your own question

Type it in the chat. The moderator reads the most helpful ones to the speaker.

Find help nearby

Discover services in your area and the people behind them, and ask for an introduction if you want one.

Help your community

Bring a neighbour, share what you learn, or offer some of your time as a volunteer.

How it works

The same simple steps for every event.

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Register

Register on the event page with your free iCaria account. It takes one minute and never signs you up for care.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Choose your sessions

Pick the sessions you want and star your favourites. You can change your mind any time.

  3. 3

    Before the day

    Get reminders

We email you before the event with your links, so there is nothing to remember.

  4. 4

    On the day

    Join, listen, ask

Join from the link, keep your camera on or off, and ask questions in the chat.

Get ready in three steps

Before the day

  • Write down one or two questions you really want answered.
  • Invite a parent, a friend or a neighbour who would find it useful.
  • If the event offers a practice session, join it to test your sound and screen.

On the day

  • Join a few minutes early from the link in your email or in My events.
  • Keep a notebook nearby for names, steps and websites.
  • Ask your question in the chat. There are no silly questions.

After

  • Do the one thing the speaker suggested for this week.
  • Ask for an introduction if you want help from someone you heard.
  • Tell us what you thought: it shapes the next event.

What you take home

Every session ends with something useful you can do, not just something interesting you heard.

  1. 1One practical step to take this week
  2. 2Trusted local people you can turn to
  3. 3Answers to your own questions
  4. 4New neighbours who face the same things

Good practice

Do

  • Be kind in the chat
  • Keep questions short and general
  • Share what you learn with your family
  • Bring someone who needs it

Avoid

  • Sharing private health or money details in the chat
  • Advertising your own business in the chat
  • Recording or screenshotting other attendees

Help for your own household, when you need it

The same free account opens iCaria Together for your family: arrange help at home for a loved one with vetted providers, and get support from a Family Advocate who helps you plan. Nothing starts until you ask.

Questions from attendees

Is it really free?

Yes. Sponsors cover the costs, and attendees never pay.

Do I need an account?

Yes, a free iCaria account, created in one step with Google or a code sent by email. It never signs you up for care.

Do I have to turn my camera on?

No. Camera and microphone are up to you. You can ask questions by typing in the chat.

What if I am not comfortable with video calls?

The link opens in your web browser with nothing to install. If the event offers a practice session, join it, and ask a family member or a volunteer to help you the first time.

Can I bring my parents or my children?

Yes. Every age is welcome. A few sessions are for adults only, and the program says so.

Will anyone try to sell me something?

No. Speakers teach and introduce; they never sell. If you want help from someone, you ask for an introduction.

Can I help at the event?

Yes. When you register, tell us you can offer some of your time as a volunteer, and we will be in touch.

Ready to join us?

Register for the next event in one minute, then choose your sessions.
